Puglia Gourmet has been created to offer you an insider's experience of the delights of Puglian food and cuisine. Having lived in and loved Puglia for six years, Cathy and Keith are waiting to share their favourite food experiences with you. The week's itinerary will take you to exquisite restaurants, local meat eateries, cheese-making farms, delightful vineyards and olive oil mills for tastings. You will meet the most charming local people who are passionate about their lifestyle and their produce, whilst touring the spectacular Puglian countryside and towns.

Your accommodation will be in the fabulous Trullo Solari , a traditional country building in five acres of land which has recently been converted to a luxurious holiday villa with private pool.

Groups will not be more than eight people.

ITINERARY

Typical Itinerary

Saturday

Afternoon

Arrival and Welcome drinks.

Settle in to your home for the week and meet the other guests.

Evening

Dinner at a local top class restaurant, specialising in local food.

Sunday

Morning

Enjoy breakfast at Trullo Solari and enjoy a lazy morning relaxing in your new surroundings.

Lunch at a superb seafood restaurant right on the coast.

Afternoon

After lunch we will explore the coast, then head home for a well deserved siesta.

Evening

Passagiata with the locals in Martina Franca, and enjoy a gelato.

Monday

Morning

Visit the local market in Cisternino and sample some of the local fruit and vegetables, some of which most people are unfamiliar with, followed by a tour a local olive mill and taste of their award winning oil. Lunch at one of the best resaturants in Ostuni.

Afternoon

Meet some local food producers on their land; grape growers, sugo producers and try your hand at pasta making.

Evening

Get involved making your own pizzas, back at Trullo Solari.

Tuesday

Morning

Travel to Gallipoli and explore the wonderful old island. Visit to the olive oil museum.

Lunch

At a delicious seafood restaurant overlooking turquoise waters and fishing boats.

Afternoon

Visit to a truffle hunter in the heart of Salento

Evening

Dinner and visit in Lecce, "the Florence of the South".

Wednesday

Morning

Visit to Alberobello, trullo town and World Heritage site.

Trip to masseria (farm house) to experience mozzerella making.

Lunch in Slow Food restaurant

Afternoon

Visit to vineyard and wine tasting

Evening

Supper at the best local "Fornello Pronto" (butcher's) in Cisternino.

Thursday

Morning

After a late start, travel to Taranto to explore the old town and have a seafood lunch at the port.

Afternoon

Visit to a wonderful fishmonger where we'll purchase some morsels for supper. Gentle hike in the Massafra Gorge to stimulate appetite...

Evening

Prepare and enjoy bbq'ing, forno-ing and otherwise preparing and eating purchased fish, paired with fantastic local wines.

Friday

Morning

Tour of Ostuni.

Visit to nearby organic Masseria (farm house) to learn the secrets of local wild plants, followed by gourmet lunch at Masseria.

Afternoon

Relax and walk on the beach

Evening

Special evening at exquisite delicatessan to sample the best that Italy has to offer.

Check Out by 10.30am Saturday morning.
